Dental Veneers in Dunnellon, FL
Dental veneers are a custom designed cosmetic restoration. Veneers are made from ultra thin high quality dental porcelain. They are general like a shell that fits over the tooth. The shell will match the color of the surrounding teeth and will fit snug against the natural tooth. This will help it blend in seamlessly with your natural smile.
Dentists use dental veneers to treatment many things including:
- Damaged teeth
- Discolored, stained, or yellow teeth
- An uneven smile
- Gaps in between teeth
- Chipped teeth
- Cracked teeth
- Misshapen or crooked teeth
- Any other visual imperfections
What to Expect
Your journey to a total smile makeover will begin with a personalized consultation with Dr. Perkins. During your consultation, Dr. Perkins will evaluate the health and function of your teeth and gums to ensure that dental veneers are the appropriate treatment for your cosmetic concerns. Dr. Perkins will listen to your goals, answer your questions, and help you build a treatment plan that will improve the health and appearance of your smile.
Dental veneers are a permanent dental restoration. They are designed this way because they require the removal of substantial tooth enamel. Dr. Perkins will remove about 1/2 mm of tooth material from all teeth receiving a dental veneer. This makes room for the permanent bonding of the custom-designed dental veneer.
Once Dr. Perkins prepares the teeth, he uses digital 3-D imaging to create models of the teeth. He will design precise dental veneers that will look and feel like your natural teeth. We use an in house lab technician which will ensure your results will be consistent.
While patients wait for their final veneers, we may fit them with temporary veneers. Once the final fabrications are complete, patients return to our Dunnellon, FL dentist office. Dr. Perkins will apply the veneers for the patient’s final approval. Once the patient approves, the dentist will permanently bond the veneers to the teeth and polish them to a beautiful natural shine.
Porcelain Veneers FAQs
Do dental veneers require special care?
No. You will care for you dental veneers the same way you care for your natural teeth. That means twice daily brushing, flossing, and regular visits to the dentist. With proper oral hygiene and regular teeth cleanings, your dental veneers should last for over 10 years.
Are alternatives to dental veneers?
Yes. Tooth bonding and Lumineers are alternatives to dental veneers. Both tooth bonding and Lumineers require less tooth removal, but may need additional maintenance and are not as permanent as porcelain veneers. Unlike dental veneers, they are reversible and you can remove them later in life.
Will my dental veneers look like natural teeth?
Yes. Highly trained cosmetic dentists create cosmetic restorations that look and feel like natural teeth. Dental veneers are made from a porcelain material that reflects light like natural teeth. Your dentist will not permanently bond a veneer until you feel satisfied with the look and feel of the result.
