Dr. Carter Perkins offers dental implants for patients seeking a long-term permanent restoration for the treatment of missing teeth. Dental implants are used to restore function, health, and beauty to your smile.
A dental implant is the closest substitute to a natural tooth. When properly placed, the dental implant will fuse to the bone and make itself a natural part of your jaw. Implants are a permanent restoration so you can expect to eat, smile, talk, and brush normally.
Our Ocala, FL dentist office will recommend dental implants to replace a single missing tooth. They may also be used to anchor a dental bridge that will replace multiple teeth, as well as support dentures so that they are held firmly in place and won’t slip or move around when you talk or chew.
Why Choose Dental Implants?
Dental implants offer patients with missing teeth a natural-looking and functioning replacement option that also improves and supports long-term dental health. Current patients have enjoyed an over 95% success rate with dental implants. They also offer:
Superior durability and longevity
Better preservation of the bone structure
Virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth
Eat, drink and speak comfortably without special restrictions or risk of slippage
Improve the appearance of the face by adding fullness to lips and cheeks

Dental Implants What to Expect
Dental Implants have 3 parts:
Implant post: a bio-compatible titanium post that is surgically implanted and fuses to the jaw bone creating a permanent and secure bond Abutment: connects to the implant after it has fully healed, at the gum line and secures the dental crown, dental bridge, or denture Prosthetic tooth: this can be a dental crown for a single missing tooth or a dental bridge or denture for multiple missing teeth that is attached to the abutment
Dental implants are a multi-phased treatment that will require several visits to our Ocala, FL dentist office. The process will begin with a precise treatment plan. Dr. Perkins will meet one-on-one with you to determine the number, type, and placement of the implants needed to restore the patient’s oral health.
The type of implants you receive will be determined by the number and location of your missing teeth. Dr. Perkins will work with patients throughout their implant procedure for consistent and quality results.
The next step is the surgical implantation of the dental implant. If a tooth extraction is needed, that will be performed first and then the dental implant will be surgically placed in the jawbone. The implant is a small post made of titanium that will fuse with the living bone as it heals, forming a solid structure for the replacement tooth.
The implanted titanium posts typically take approximately 3-6 months to heal fully. During the healing phase, the implant fuses with the jawbone creating a permanent bond.
After the dental implant has healed, you will return to our Ocala, FL area dentist office where a small abutment is attached to the top of the implant and used as an anchor for the final restoration. We have an in-house dental lab technician that will work from Dr. Perkin’s treatment plant to design and fabricate a dental restoration that looks and fits like your natural teeth.
